OKI KORO

Oki Koro was inspired to inspire. Since his early introduction to music, Oki Koro has made it his comfort zone to linger amidst the beats and melodies which would become his passion and destiny. It is as meaningful to him as waves are to surfers, cliffs to climbers, and a pen and paper to writers. It then was eventually just a matter of time until he discovered the art of Djing — something that would nurture this passion, and serve as his medium for imparting his own interpretation to this beautiful thing we call music.
His musical inspiration and influences cover the whole spectrum of sound, but when DJing, he enjoys it most when he’s playing House Music. Call it what you want or put different tags to his style of music — in the end of the day everyone agrees that it evokes your raw emotions.
Oki Koro has paid his dues playing countless underground and high profile events throughout Australia, Malaysia and his hometown Indonesia ——- sharing the limelight with the likes of DIZ (Iz & Diz), Derrick Carter, Deep Dish, Dennis Ferrer, Karizma, Felix da Housecat, Colette, Louie Vega, D-T3CH, Grammophonedzie, Osunlade, Jaques Renault (DFA), Chocolate Puma, Mad Mats (Raw Fusion), Wei Shen, DJ Meme, Dean (Funk Bastards / Cosa Nostra), DJ Chus, DJ B, Rasmus Faber, Eddie Leader, David Penn and many more. He has also played for international banner events such as Kamp Nocturnal (Australia) and Protein Events (Malaysia) – all further cementing his status as a major DJ to be reckoned with in the region.
Despite getting offers to join some of the more established labels, an inspired Oki Koro decided to start his own, DigitalSix (with peers DJ Masagi & Indra 7), upon settling back in Indonesia. A staple name in the local dance scene today, DigitalSix revitalized the House scene in Indonesia by combining a sound that had yet to reach those shores, with the classic house sound that was simply forgotten or lost. This unique sound can be heard through their monthly nights such as ‘NiteGrooves’, ‘Don’t Panic!’ and ‘Audio Kollektiv’ — all of which feature quality talents from the national and international circuit.
In 2008, the Heineken Thirst DJ Committee awarded Oki Koro a certificate of recognition for being one of finalists in the 2008 Heineken Thirst Music Championship. In 2009/10/11, he was nominated as House DJ & Resident DJ of The Year in the Ravelex Electronic Dance Music Awards (REDMA), landed at number 37 in the TOP 50 poll and currently a product ambassador for Monster’s Beats by Dr Dre.
Oki’s past Club residencies include; TheSanctuary/Club11A/theMetro/NextBlue/PlatformOne (Melbourne), Luna Bar (Kuala Lumpur), Bibliotheque (Jakarta) and currently Immigrant (Jakarta) as one of their respected resident DJs. Though he has been producing tons of material for personal use, production for a bigger audience seems to be the direction he’s headed. With a few original things set to come up from the horizon, be sure to keep your ears peeled and watch out for this man from Indonesia.

Fueled by the passion of creating music out of the conventional and driven by what technology has, made DJ Elvin push his way in embracing the electronic music.
